On Friday, May 9, I took my track team from Hardy Elementary to the Hamilton County Track Meet at Hixson High School. I was there on Thursday, May 8, as a timer, where I took these pictures. I unfortunately could not find my camera on Friday to take pictures of my kids.
Home of the Wild Cats. One P.E. teacher from another school congratulated me after the day Friday on the good behavior of the Hardy participants. He said last year a loud roar came up from the bleachers and there was a major "battle" going on between Hardy students fighting each other. He said it took a long time to bring them back to order.
Another view as the students from the small schools day file in. My team was pretty roudy but no fighting or disrespect so it went as well as could have been expected, and obviously above and beyond the expectations of the rest of the P.E. teachers based on past experience!
I have managed to fit in a lot of sports while I've been back in Collegedale this year. On Thursday, May 8, I played basketball with Eric and then it started raining. I continued to play for over 20 minutes in the rain and then took down the hoop so the wind would not blow it down. Then Eric left and Jason came over during a steady downpour of rain. We waited til it stopped and then broomed the water off the court. It then rained off and on for the whole 2 hours we played, but it was a great workout.
A picture after I was thoroughly drenched while shooting hoops. Jason and I played 3 games in the rain and wet conditions.
I played tennis while I was at Medford 2 weeks ago with Dave Sunday evening after my interview for 4 1/2 hours total time spent at the school on Sunday morning. It was great weather for tennis around 60 degrees and maybe 5% humidity at the most with a strong breeze. I also got in 5 consecutive sets of tennis yesterday afternoon to celebrate the completion of my year at Hardy. I got a little burned after playing from 1:15 until 4:45 p.m. I am excited to continue playing tennis at Highland with friends there who like to play.
The Davies front yard with their vinyard. I was very thankful they let me stay with them over the weekend and had a good time getting the tour of the area and hiking and playing tennis and watching the NBA Play-Offs with Dave!
Another view from the front of their yard by the road where I talked on the phone to get good cell phone service. I was actually pretty cold when I took this picture as the temperature was probably low 50s at the warmest. Sunday night the low was 39 degrees F, and then 3 days after I flew back home they set all time record highs for this time of year with highs near 105!!

A view of the snow-capped mountains and lake below about 25 minutes from school.
Another view of the lake.
The road in the mountains.
A view from the bridge over the water.
Dave looking at a lizard.
The Davies car next to the road.
Pretty clouds on the drive from school to the Davies.
Getting on the plane in Medford ready for the 11 hour trip home, 22 hours total travel time.
LAX Airport in California was crazy busy.
On the plane from Los Angeles to Charlotte on the way home.
Some unique land patterns.
A last plane shot. I was ready to take this job but they offered it to the current Guys Varsity Basketball Coach who is a Construction worker. But God had a plan in mind that I can now see. After a few more posts there will be wedding pictures on the blog!!!!!

The computer lab.
The playground.
The front of the school is about 15 feet off the main street. The school is in the inner-city and is about 1 mile from the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL team and Legends Field, Spring Training home of the New York Yankees. The principal told me that during a Bucs. home game if he is there on Sunday he can actually hear the crowd cheering from school.
Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL's Bucs.
Legends Field, spring home of the NY Yankees. Obviously, I didn't decide on this job as I have ended up at Millersville!!

Carrie and Maggie. I was Carrie's photographer with her friends after everybody moved outside.
Looking ready to go shopping for our bed, which we found a few hours after this picture!
Olivia smiling for the camera!
I also interviewed at 2 other public elementary schools this weekend, this is the first one, Beech Elementary.
The 2nd was Walton Ferry Elementary. I was impressed with this school more than Beech but I never got to meet the Principal. Out of the 3 schools I interviewed at this weekend, Millersville gave me the best impression so I really feel like God led in helping me land that job. There were a large volume of applicants for it, over 15 I believe.

The champ from the Guys Final Game, he hit the game-winning shot in OT.
The lower grades Special Ed. crew Wednesday afternoon.
More students on the last day looking excited.
My friend who had 5 Eagles on the last day.
Excited at the end of the year.
As I have concluded my full year at Hardy Elementary, I have also landed a new job for next school year. I will be the new Physical Education instructor at Millersville Elementary in Millersville, TN, about a 5 minute drive from the River Gate Mall in Goodlettsville, TN, right near the KY-TN Conference Office I think.
This is the view from the parking lot down the hill. It is a scenic location. There are approximately 350 students at the school. I talked to the current P.E. instructor and he said he is retiring from teaching after teaching at Millersville for 18 years. The school is just over 30 minutes from Highland Academy. Thank you for all your prayers that God would lead us to the right place for next year. Now Carrie will be able to continue working at Highland Academy for her 3rd year. In just 9 short days we will be getting married and I will be moving to Highland to teach at Millersville next year. Our Pre-Session starts on August 6, 2008.
