Fire in Duplex on Sandy Trail

A peaceful view of the apartment on Sandy Trail before the trauma of September 1.
When I returned from Highland on Labor Day, I discovered a fire had broken out in the other side of my duplex on Saturday, 2 days earlier. The fire department had broken in through my front door and smashed 3 large holes in the ceiling to ensure the fire was not spreading through the attic as I hear smoke was pouring out the eaves on both sides of the duplex.
Here is one of the holes that was in my living room above my tv, which was covered in insulation about 6 inches deep.
The front door, minus the door handle.
The kitchen and the 2nd hole in the ceiling. The 3rd hole was right through the door in the picture that leads into my storage room. The fire started in a dryer in their storage room directly accross the wall from this picture. I lost some personal belongings and had water and minor smoke damage, but it could have been a lot worse and the family that lived next door lost everything. They are hoping to move into my old apartment when they have torn down the other side of the duplex and fixed up my old side. As for me, I made my 3rd move of this summer on Monday afternoon as I packed everything and moved it all into storage by 10 p.m. We started at 2:30 in the afternoon as I discovered the disaster around 1 p.m. My friends Carson, John L., Jason, and John J. helped as well as my parents.

The back door of the apartment next to mine. This door leads to the laundry room where the fire started.

In the above pictures you can see the view from the back yard of some of the lost and burned goods. Two of these pictures are actual pictures of the inside of their kitchen. And take a look at the fateful dryer that started the blaze.

A cat that was always around was there when I went on Wednesday laying infront of the burned out apartment.

I have moved back into home for now and am planning to move into the new house in the ground-level apartment 4 houses down the street. I was in the apartment for approximately 3 weeks.
