New Horizons

The school year officially came to a close today on Friday, May 23, 2008, at Hardy Elementary. Starting on Thursday, May 15 and continuing through Tuesday, May 20, we had a 5th Grade Basketball Tournament.
More pictures. I am on the far side in the middle of the picture officiating the game.
After the conclusion of the Girls and Guys Championship games on Tuesday, we had a staff game and we beat the Guys champions 115-41 in 50 minutes. Like I told a student at the end of the day, if we had actually tried we might have scored a lot of points.
The gym set up for graduation on Wednesday, May 20, that happened at 9 a.m.
5th Grade Promotion on Wednesday morning. After the Promotion, the 5th graders left with their guardians. At the end of the school day on Wednesday, the rest of the students left for the summer. We had Inservice on Thursday and today to conclude our school year, which started with pre-week on July 13, 2007. The champ from the Guys Final Game, he hit the game-winning shot in OT.The lower grades Special Ed. crew Wednesday afternoon.More students on the last day looking excited.
Set up for the Thursday Retirement Celebration for 3 teachers; only 2 of which are actually retired now. The 3rd decided to come back again next year as an Interventionist. My friend who had 5 Eagles on the last day.Excited at the end of the year.As I have concluded my full year at Hardy Elementary, I have also landed a new job for next school year. I will be the new Physical Education instructor at Millersville Elementary in Millersville, TN, about a 5 minute drive from the River Gate Mall in Goodlettsville, TN, right near the KY-TN Conference Office I think.
Another view of the front of the school. I interviewed at 2 other public elementary schools in Sumner county as well last weekend and I took pictures of both of their gyms, but I didn't here because they were having a party to celebrate the end of the year and had 2 huge blow-up slides in the gym. The school is on the side of a hill about 1.6 miles from I-65. I hear that they sometimes have goats and roosters on the hill up from the hill. They have a small paved track next to the school by the play ground. This is the view from the parking lot down the hill. It is a scenic location. There are approximately 350 students at the school. I talked to the current P.E. instructor and he said he is retiring from teaching after teaching at Millersville for 18 years. The school is just over 30 minutes from Highland Academy. Thank you for all your prayers that God would lead us to the right place for next year. Now Carrie will be able to continue working at Highland Academy for her 3rd year. In just 9 short days we will be getting married and I will be moving to Highland to teach at Millersville next year. Our Pre-Session starts on August 6, 2008.

We are SOOOOOOOO happy for you...and Carrie...and US! Way to land that job - and it sounds very nice from what you observed of the students and heard from the current PE teacher who's retiring.

I don't know whether to jump up and down or to cry because I'm so happy for you! I had this feeling this is how it would end up - you moving up to Highland - and I can't imagine a better place for you. I'm sure the road between here and there will be worn this next year. Have to make use of it before we start traipsing the country looking for jobs...
